Another quick question - PS3 is running blu ray movies nicely at 1080i, looks awesome!

I bought a 32" widescreen telly from derestrictor a few years ago, I think its a 1080i not p...

1) Should the ps3 be running the game at 1080i, like the movies? Im 99% sure my X360 did. Currently its running games at 720p. I did configure movies to run at 1080, and they do. What should the ps3 run at?
2) And erm, whats the difference visually between i and p, out of curiosity smile

My official remote did this, all I did was take the batteries out of the remote then put them back in and it worked fine. Guess it had to do some kind of reset.

With regard to running games at 720p, not all games can do 1080i, it says on the back of the game case what it can run at, most are 720 right now.

Games should ideally be played in progressive mode (p). Interlacing is fine for movies as they only run at 24 frames/ sec (or 23.9**) where as many games (especially newer ones) run at 60 frames/ sec which interlacing will give you all kinds of artifacs.

Also as R1 says, nearly all games are rendered at 720p so there is no point in scalling up to 1080x1920 and then your TV scalling that back down to 768x1366 (which will most likely be the resolution of your screen).
