Sorry for all the questions tonight but thought i'd ask another quick one!
I have the original Alloys on my Exige S which look good but i've always wanted a set of the Lightweoight forged wheels to finish the car off!
Im off to the alps this Summmer for a bit of fun and will need to put new rubber on before i go. Thought this would be the ideal opportunity to treat myself to some new wheels.
Any suggestions on where to get them from. Will prob go for A048's again too so trying to find the cheapest/ easiest way of doing it!

Any idea's...????

Peronally I would use road tyres for your trip to the Alps.

The wheels on the exige are some of the lightest around - if you want lighter then go to lotus and ask for some of the sports wheels. Not the pretiest alloy out there but bloody light.

Not sure that is right. The original spec S2 "spiders" are 8.8 and 9.8kg per corner, front and back respectively. That is pretty lardy. However, the forged alloys are better at 5.5 and 7 respectively. Overall, quite a saving in unsprung weight.

Hmmm, there are several wheels for the zige. The ones used on the SR and zige are one of the lightest produced. (according to Tony Shute)

Useful info here -

The SR has the forged ones which, as you say, are pretty light. However, the standard spec alloys on the Exige are not so.

Thanks for the info guys'. Have loked around and they aint cheap!
From spec's given they seem to be about 2.5kg lighter. They do look fantastic tho and will have to be had. just need to save the cash up now.
Any ideas how much i would get for the original alloys second hand???

S2 Exige alloys are typically around 500 w/o tyres, about 800 with. Trackdayers on Lotus-on-track looking for a second set of wheels for their Exige or 111R are normally best buyers.

Normally I would have said black with Gun Metal Grey, but it doesn't really suit that style of wheel and looks much better as in the picture.

i'd be very dubious of forged alloys, especially lightweight ones.

if it were my own money and safety, i'd personally go for genuine alloys.

Oooohhhh... something to remember if you are thinking of shelling out for the lieghtweight forged alloys is that those for the elise (sports racer spec) have narrower front wheels than those for the exige, so you might struggle to run A048s, so if buyig secondhand you need to make sure you get exige rather than elise ones, unless of course you fancy running road tyres on them anyway, which would save you money if you don't go on track often.

Very slightly off track but any idea what the 340R wheels weigh?

If you don't get an answer here, suggest you post on SELOC.

You're right, just did a quick search and fronts are 4.75kg, the rears are 5.83kg.
