2005 Civic 5dr headlamp query

Just aquired this car for my wife.
I was loking at the headlamp bulbs prior to ordering HID units.
The problem is with the dip (projector type) unit.
The H1 bulb is held in a seperate bulb holder, which in turn is held into the back of the unit with a spring clip. I think it's the same as the Type R of similar vintage. I can't seem to find a decent 'fit' for the bulb holder, there doesn't seem to be place where it seats properly.
Is this a common problem? Mind you, it would be easier if I had long thin fingers instead of short fat ones.
Has anyone else done a HIDS4U conversion on these lamps?
