Air con noise

Knocking/rattling noise coming from the aircon pump and it doesn't seem to be blowing any cold air. Have I lost my freon or worse? Any ideas?

Ah the old AC in the winter routine! Yes, keep it on it will keep the car clear of condensation.
As for the noise; disengage the A/C clutch, it sounds like you have lost the gas, which also carries the lubricant.
