Strengthened track rods
Discussion
Hi,
I bent my strengthened track rods yesterday on a large rock. This was my Mark 2 version where the outer sleeve is slightly larger diameter than the O.D. of the actual track rod. The pair are kept concentric by a special bush at each end. I am now wondering whether to make a replacement identical to this (it's lasted me six years of hard use) or to buy either a Dan Bar or a Sumo Bar. My thinking is that if the outer sleeve can roll over the immovable thingy then it is less likely to snag and bend. What thoughts / recommendations do you PH'ers have?
Annoyingly I had a spare standard drag link (don't believe in beefing them up) in the vehicle. This time I'll carry a track rod too - 1/2 an hours work and you can drive home safely!
cheers for any input...
