Howdy, I'm selling my Ultima Kit due to no time to complete but now looking for a decent track day car. Nobles have taken my fancy however I really want something quite quick and the few I'm come across at trackdays have been slower than my CSL!
I did talk to one guy and in fairness he was a relative novice (3rd trackday) but the question is...
Will I get a buzz out of a Noble after stepping out of my CSL???

Hi Robin

Im a newcomer to Nobility so my experience is limited, but I would say that performance wise, the Noble is simply from another world. I've also got an M Coupe which I used to track on occasion and admittedly the few CSLs I came up against were quicker, but not significantly. The Noble (M400) on the other hand is literally a very frightening place to be when you're used to the M power delivery. Dont get me wrong, I love the M's (hence why I had to hang onto mine when the Noble turned up) but I am confident in saying that if you step out of your CSL and into a Noble there will not be NO element of doubt in your mind about which will be getting round a track quicker. It is simply an absolute savage. You really need to take one for a test drive to satisfy yourself on how ridiculously quick these little f*ckers are. Once you've done that, the rest will take care of itself wink

Hope that helps

You will love the Noble. It's definitely quicker than the CSL and handles better, and despite all the hype around the CLS sountrack, I think the Noble sounds better. The CSL is better built and you might miss all that carbon!

i had an e46 m3 with dms remap to ~370bhp, as just said noble in a different league, similar quoted bhp with just under 500kg less weight in favour of the noble. much less mass to change direction and more torque to play with. not quite german reliability though. an astounding car though, you won't regret a move to the nobility

You are thinking of Nathan. I went to a GT3 RS.

Dunno about speed comparisons really as so much is down to driver and pretty much any done on trackdays are irrelevent!

FWIW I think a properly driven CSL, Noble or GT3 is more than fast enough for anyone on a trackday.

I think you'll all be suprised at just how fast a CSL is on track. I have a couple of friends with them and thik a CSL is just as fast round most tracks, when on cups and with the brake upgrade to 6 pots.

Both friends with them came from Nobles (m12 and an m400 with all the mods) and both swear the csl is much much better as a track/road car. They are comparing costs, depreciation, consumables, and of corse the reliability issues, which I don't think any of us Noble owners who track them could honestly think are as good as a well loved CSL!

If I had to have one car, it'd be a csl. Given that I need 2, the csl is just not different and special enough against any work car, hence me preferring the noble.

MR AMG Merc, it was your Noble that got me thinking about em as we did the chateau run a few years back and yours looked smart (I had a standard E46 M3 then).

The two car situation is where I'm at, I currently commute around 120 miles a day and the fuel bills are killing me in the CSL although I am getting 30mpg. Also, as I'm now commuting in it I've become quite precious about it so not doing any trackdays.
So a rethink is due which leads me to sell my part completed Ultima Kit (don't have time to complete), sell the CSL and buy a diesel something such as a BMW 1 series and something 'special'
My 'special' choices are a Noble GTO or M400, Ultima or Exige.

I had a quick google for a Noble Buyers Guide but couldn't find one, any ideas??

Robin, thanks, she still looks smart and glad to have assisted your motoring persuasion!

That was a great day out - remember that motorway section en route back to the tunnel - blimey, what a driving sight (details of which I cannot possibly comment on here!). smile

I don't think either of us have ever really looked back either? We are both quite into our trackdays though so I think a Noble might have bankrupted me with similar usage.
