Hi,

I'm looking for a rain hood for my Chim. Previous threads suggest Leven's hood but at £150 seems quite expensive. I'm not after a full car cover either...
Are there any other options out there that people can recommend? Or is the Leven hood worth forking out for?

Thanks

Andy

For much less than £150 you could replace the seals and re-waterproof the roof. It shouldn't need a rain cover then!

I've used a 'Grey shiny' half cover for years, never taken the Leven one out the bag... Seem to keep the rain (& muck off), light weight, easy to store & deploy.

I'd suggest you buy Dave's shiny new Leven one off him as it's obviously surplus to requirements...... biggrin

I have done the full roof reseal, recover, and new seals & it still leaks, probably because its garaged. I noticed this on other sports cars.

Where was your £19 cover from ? - i am looking for somehing very light & portable for Le Mans this year. I had a Leven cover i never used, far too heavy & over engineered for occassional use, there must be something in between.

Any links ?

I've got the Leven hood cover, highly recommended, yes its expensive, but I bought mine from another PH'er for £100. It's very easy to put on and take off with flaps that secure it to the car via the boot and bonnet so it can't be nicked easily!

One point i didn't mention is that i'll have to cut into the cover so that parking attendants can see my residents permit.

Bin using one of these on the wedge. Keeps the hood area bone dry all day, I even leave the windows open a bit to vent the interior. thumbup

I think thats who made the one I use, keeps it cool in the sun is a big + if you go warm places wink

Think this one is a bit too fiddly to pop over though:

rofl

On the basis I have to cut holes in the cover and my DIY skills are rubbish, I think the £12 ebay option is best. smile

Besides, the birds around W.London seem to drop the most monsterously acidic hurl i've seen, so £12 wouldn't be such a loss after a large peppering.
