The removal of rusty bits!

Does anyone know how to remove the latches from the doors. (My explanation is poor but its the bit that stops the door from opening). Both mine are extremely rusty.

Do you mean the "bar" on the door that goes into the latch when the door shuts?

If so you can take the skin off the door (three caps with self tapping screws underneath) along the bottom of the door, remove the rubber membrane that is glued to the door, and you will be able to see the bolts that hold this in place.

I hope it comes apart easier than it sounds.

Does the bolt you're referring to hold the actual bolt on?
Because it looks like the bolt is fitted to another washer type item. The base of the bolt has 2 holes in. Is there not a tool which would fit in these holes and maybe unscrew the bolt leaving the washer type item fitted to the door?

I am sure there is a story about 5 blind men trying to describe an elephant that is very similar to how this thread is going.

From what recall there are two bolts that hold this in place, and the nuts (luckily we have moved on from the elephant analogy here) are on the inside. If these are held/welded in place then it should be possible to adjust/remove from the outside.

If not you will need to take the skin off the door. It is a 5 minute job and requires only a socket set, though you will need some glue to hold the rubber membrane back in place
