In an hour of lunacy I bought an old formula 750 chassis...Was a good price, and its a really well designed and produced chassis....

The plan is to fit a Kawasaki zx9R engine to it, giving it roughly 390hp/tonne...

The car will be built up to a very high spec safety wise...

Its not going to be road registered (No lights appart from brake] or handbrake)

Does anyone know, can I bring this along to a "normal" arive and drive type track day?

Eventually I might go and take part in some hill climbs or something else with it, but just want the oppertunity to hit a few tracks in a non competative environment...

In theory yes it will be allowed on most track days, key thing to avoid is open wheeled which it isn't. It wouldn't be allowed at any tracks days at Thruxton and you'll have to watch the noise at a lot of other places.

Can't see it being a problem at all it has enclosed wheels if they didn't allow it there would be a lot of radical owners not happy as i would say its a sports racing car from the 80's.biggrin

Blimey. Looks like a project.

You'll be Ok everywhere apart from Thruxton as long as you meet the noise limits.

Noise is your main problem.

Unless you get it very quiet then you'll probably have to restrict yourself to unsilenced Donington days which are fewer and further between (and more expensive) than the normal 98db days.

I have a road legal muffler, so it "should" be within limits...

But noise is something I plan to have under control...

Some operators do limit to road cars only, MSE for example

I *think* that is due to the restrictions of most airfields rather than specifically the operator. Of course the two coincide for MSE.
