Well after a week of trying to convince myself that she's fine i think im finaly admiting that my rad has gone!

Taken the bonnet off and removed all the pannels, and the pipes going to the Rad seem fine, and my leak is getting worse! iv bled the full system and it seems to have made it worse... although i ran it last night and i had water coming out the expansion tank... any ideas why it would be doing that?

Also where is the best place to get it recored (im in scotland)

Cheers all!

With my limited knowledge smile....

Water coming out, means air can get in. As soon as you get the air in there, the coolant will boil, and the the expansion tank/cap is where the resultant steam/boiling water will be dispatched

When my radiator was knackered I was getting spurts of hot water and steam coming out through the expansion tank cap after a hot run. Not sure on explanation for it though - I'll leave that to those who know what they're talking about hehe

So where is the best place to get it fixed?

I did a search & people recomend a place called glouster or something like that?

Is there anywhere in Scotland that is good?

I used these people before to recore the rad on my old Saab. Good result, reasonable price:

It's Gloucester Radiator Specialists - 01452 419524. They know TVR's so a good placeto use, maybe they do a Postal Service.
But before you do it, are you sure it's your Radiator? Have you tried bleeding the system, the nature of the engine does mean it 'generates' air, so occasional bleeding is needed.

Not wishing to be a doom and gloom merchant, however I had this problem on my pick-up (Warrior), i.e. water spewing out of the expansion tank and it turned out to be the head. The pressure developed in the crank or cylinder transfered via the cracked head into the cooling system. The only saving grace was the fact that i didn't need to strip the engine, oil in the water is not as bad as water in the oil!
Now i have done you a favour because by the time you have read this and you feel sick in the gut and it turns out to be just a burst radiator and not the head you will feel great again!

I hope it is an easy fix for you though.

There is an indie in Dalkeith and one in Fenton Barns near North Berwick (or was when i lived there), a bit far i know but may be of some help.

I've read that its a Range Rover core as well, but I can't remember the source (perhaps the Equivelant parts thread on here?), so can't confirm 100%.

At the end of the day, if it fits in the same hole and flows the same amount of water, does it really matter where the core comes from?

It's based on a Range Rover core, but apparently it is different - Speak to Gloucester Radiators to make sure. My information is based on what they told me, and as theyve done 100's of Rads for |TVR's I believed them.

You don't need an alloy rad. Just buy a smaller house. cool
