Morning all,

We've got a manual A6 with the 1.9tdi 130 coming up for it's 3rd service. It will fall at about 60,000 miles and the car will be about 3.5 years old.

I've got a good Inde lined up and know that cambelts need doing.
But basically, what else 'above and beyond' should I get done to keep the workhorse running for many years to come?

I've read snippets like:
change the idlers/rollers tensioner
change auxilary belts
renew the tensioners and pulleys
German Swedish and French brass replacement for the plastic water pump which uses a plastic impeller

As you can see, I know nothing about these, but want to spend on top notch maintinance so that it minimises issues down the line. The car is likely to stay with us for a few years yet.

All help, much appreciated.

Cheers,
Matt

Water pump is essential with the cambelt change as you have noted. IIRC the cambelt kit comes with tensioners and roller, but if not I would get them done too.

Get the auxiliary belts changed with the cambelt too.

Coming up to 4 years so would suggest brake fluid is changed.

Also with the age, air filter should be checked and replaced if necessary.

Apart from that, all the regular bits like cabin filter, oil, oil filter and check everything else.
