I've got some worn ones sitting in my garage that I'm going to put on ebay - couple of mm all round from memory (can measure exact tread depth tonight if you're interested)

On word of caution, 48's heat cycle like proper track tyres (although not as extreme) and once they have done the cycles go hard and are useless. I've got a pair of fronts, still over half the tread depth left but just understeer like hell (mainly track day use I'll admit). So just the depth doesn't tell you if the tyre is good or bad. They also don't age well, after 12-18 months they will harden and give much less grip.

Have you ever tried the stuff that Demon Tweeks sell to re-juvinate tired rubber Speedy? The active content (can't remember the name) can probably be bought fairly cheaply from a chemists.

The man is right. A set of 48's or 888's is probably only good for 2-3 trackdays + road driving in between, max (depending on how hard you drive them).

Once they're gone, they're gone. Remember Donington Speedy?

That's the set of fronts that are still sat in a corner..... with the car setup I was running I should have had the most tail happy car ever, but still had understeer, really showed how little grip the tyres give once they have heat cycled.

Never believed in the paint on goo... good for softening a tyre for a short stint on track at a push, but not something to would make any sense on a road car!
