I see on Lotus Esprit World that he will be doing a review on a K&N alternative. Does anyone know who sells these filters? I purchased the available K&N and modified it to fit, but I would rather have one that fits like it should.

Thanks

Hi,

The greens filters can be sourced from Pete at PNM Engineering.

I've fitted one and other than a bit of trimming it fits ok and works a treat.

PNM number is 0151 630 6101. BTW they are soon making a CF airbox so it all fits snug for those hardcore owners. Availible soon.

Cheers,

Thanks for all the info. Fisrt off, I installed the K&N and was not happy trying to use sealant to make it work. So, I trimmed it down to fit, flipped it and used the original gasket. I didn't put the gasket around the lip of the K&N, but just placed it between the filter and the side of the engine bay wall and clamped it down. One thing I noticed while doing this is that the interior edge of the air box is very rough and didn't seem to give a complete seal, even with the original filter and gasket. In other words in appeared that some air would bypass around the edge of the filter.
So, for me, a CF airbox designed to fit the Green or K&N filter would be great. Also, one thing I noticed in the procedure outlined on Lotus Esprit World with the Green filter (BTW Thanks Kato), is that there is a bit of an indentation on the wall for the filter to fit in on the model Esprit in the demo. Apparantly that has changed because on my 94, it is totally flat and the filter seals against it. I had to trim my K&N and turn it around so it would fit flush. Otherwise, there would be about 1/2 inch gap. True it should be sealed by the filter, but with the gasket not fitting perfectly, I didn't want to take any chances.
Anyway, thats just me experiences. So I would love to see an aftermarket air box designed for the available aftermarket filters, either K&N or Green. It one is not available by the time I make it back home to try, I may try to design one myself that uses a commonly available K&N.
