To be honest the real problem lies with the guy who hit him - whatever you or your passenegers are in you can't completely protect against a drunk idiot hitting you at speed.

Glad to see things worked out comparitively well in this case.

Fully agree, it could just have easily have happened had he been a pedestrian, looking at it that way being in the chimeara probably saved his life.

To be honest though by the looks of the pictures, there are not many cars that would protect you fully from that sort of impact to the side. Lucky guy and glad he was in a RHD.

Well you would be surprised how good sideprotection is in modern cars with side- and curtain airbags !! Nice video on youtube with a hell of a side impact.
