I've been getting a bit of grief from my back again lately and, in an attempt to try to keep myself reasonably healthy for as long as possible, I am toying with the idea of fitting a better seat (actually probably a matching pair of seats) to the Cerb.

Have any of you done this?

If so, what seats actually fit and how did you get on long-term?

I have one that I used when I had the Skyline but it won't fit the Cerbera seats.

Also I'd prefer the seat base to be harder as well.

I've managed to force the old lumbar support in so at least I can use the car in comfort.

I'll keep searching and will update if I get anything that works, fits and looks ok as well.

If you want the seat base harder, couldn't you just exchange the velcro'd seat squab for, well, I dunno, a plank? biggrin

i've got the old hand pump balloon lumber support on mine. Works ok bit a bit leaky after all these years. Passengers think its for blood pressure.

Joking aside, take a look at the Fluke Motorsport website - they have some yummy carbon fibre seats. Solid but moulded...

I had a look.

They look good alright.

Pity they're not able to be hinged (although then again hardly anyone is small enough to fit behind my 5' 11" frame).

Tell your passengers that if they want a ride, then THEY need to be hinged...

...or is it unhinged (I get so confused!). wink

Well the bones are back where they should be in my back after todays physio.

There's still a bit to go before I'm 100% but I've been told to be careful of house and car seats that aren't very supportive.

I'll do a bit of searching over the next few days and send off some e-mails to see if any of the seat manufacturers know if their products will fit my car.

I'll keep the thread updated if I have any replies.

Perhaps a stupid suggestion, but my Mrs has got a special boomerang/chevron shaped cushion that she bought when she was pregnant (designed to mould under the bump). They sell them in Mothercare for about £15. Might be a non-starter, but if it works, it'd be a lot cheaper than a pair of CF Recaros!

I'd be very interesred in your findings, my back gives me gip after an hour or so of hard driving, plus I have old model seats so you slide around in them on track days...not good, bruised two ribs last time after a tank slapper

Alot of people go for Tuscan seats but even second hand they are 1k for a pair!

Hey, while your discussing backs,

What does a pain in back of left thigh, most likely suggest from car seating problems.
(Seat position)?

I drive Three cars during course of week,
Can't' decide which is giving me pain.

It appears each of them do, sorry for hijack not seen it discussed here before

Seeing as your back is more important than what the seats look like - go for a pair of Recaros (not exactly bad looking seats anyway) Plenty of cars hve these as standard, the 'sportier' Fords, VW and Audi to name but a few. Decide on the ones you like and search on 24/7 - no idea what the prices are like though. The Tuscan type seats dont really offer that much more support, they just look sexier.

I never heard of them before.

(Typical foreigner, eh?) wink

I'll see what may fit and keep an eye out on their site to see if they have something that'll suit.
