Would you buy a Saggy with 25k+ miles and no engine rebuild

It all depends on how the car has been driven, I asked the question "Whos got the most miles on their Sagaris" a few months ago and I was happy to see there were a few people in the high 20's and early 30's.
I`ve also talked to a main dealer and they have only rebuild 2 Sagaris engines. The one we spoke about had around 35k miles on it. The rebuild was not essential as far as I recall, it was getting some minor parts replaced and the owner decided they would just get the rebuild done to save hassle X miles later (as the minor work was still an engine out task)
My car will have 13k miles on it once I drive it the 400 miles home (yes.. grinning constantly) I plan on doing around 4 or 5k miles a year but I expect if I get to the high 20's I`ll be very happy.
One thing I would say is that I searched *ALOT* about Sagaris rebuilds and most forms (including TVRCC) are pretty void of them (compared to Tuscan/earlier T350's)..
Personally I would be paying low 30's for a Sagaris with ~25k miles as sooner or later a rebuild will occur (its the same with any Speed Six).

Isn't the whole Speed 6 rebuild reputation more to do with the earlier cars - Tuscans etc around 2001 - 2003 because of the cheap components they used at the time to save costs. This was all changed by the time the Sag was produced (Russian at the helm) hence only 2 known rebuilds (and one of these was a press car - say no more) on Sags and there are quite a few over 20 / 25k now. You don't hear of many rebuilds on the later T350's either - I seem to remember it was around 2004 when the new quality regime was introduced.
I think it is more relevant how the car has been treated / driven i.e warmed up properly, maintained on time by TVR dealers / specialists etc than mileage specifically. Buying from a dealer however you don't know what the previous owner was like but the service history should give you some ideas on how it was treated / what has gone wrong with it (f anything) in the past.

Agreed. However my Dealer was quite open about the previous owner (with his permission) and so I learnt alot about how he used and handled the car - as always you have to take this on faith but I`ve no reason to disblieve the guys as almost everyone who has dealt with them sing their praises... Plus any dealer worth his salt will have instructed any owner on the proper warm-up and operation of these beasts..

Agree James - I bought my Sag from Racing Green (and they were great) as well and they knew the previous owner, it had been serviced there and he had had 3 or 4 TVR's before from them so he was famaliar with the warm up procedure etc. This site can a good resource as well for info on a cars history if you do a bit a digging and the owner has posted here before.
