my current car is a BMW 330i but it just isnt sporty enough, i drive 19 miles to work and obviously back again, i have a choice of A roads or all back roads, the question is could i use an exige as a daily driver or would the noise/ride get too much. by the way i havent driven one yet, but i do love the exige.

Only you can answer this question.

It'll be hardcore no doubt but I'd jump at the chance. I drive my Elise every day with a comedy exhaust and it's b een 'entertaining' over the last few days.

Would I swap it? Only for an S1 Exige or worse (bike engined 7 style car, atom, 340r etc.).

However, most people I know think I'm bonkers and would never live with it....

19 miles, deffo live with that. If you think you couldn't, then look at the Elise R, it's a little bit more civilised and I'm told, when you've had a crap day, doesn't require quite as much "effort" (mostly mental) as an Exige does.

40 miles a day is nothing - less than 40 mins, and on the roads you're t;aking about pure motoring heaven in an Exige.

I do 200 mile daily commutes in mine 3, 3 times a week.

I used my S2 Exige everyday for two years and an elise for the previous two. Definitely reccommend it. Maybe think about different winter tyres that all.

I don't use mine for work but 40 miles is nothing. Only point would be to make sure it's warmed up before you head off. Half a drive stuck without 2nd cam is pointless.

"warmed up before you head off"?? Would you not recommend one for a daily trip of 5 miles as the car wont have a chance to warm up before it reaches its destination??

5 miles, it'll just be getting warm, it's about 5 miles to our local Sainsburys, the other day as I parked up, it went from 85 to 86C. At 86-88C (roughly what mine is when it's warmed up), it needs another 5-10 mins for the oil to get to temperature before you really start giving it some.

For me:

<86C, 3k revs, no more.
once at 86C, 4-4.5k revs, no more, for 5-10 mins.

I just wouldn't advocate raggin' the bks off any car until the oil is warmed up properly, let alone a teeny 4-pot that revs to 8.5Krpm cloud9

Haven't actually been in an exige but for me I don't think that there is an issue in terms of once you're IN the car, the thing that I find more of a pain in the **se is the polava of getting in and out. Unless you're a yoga master its a fairly convoluted affair and something that, for me (who bear in mind would rather have my Elise than a million BMW's :-D) is the only real detraction as an everyday motor. I've just changed to my Elise from 4 years in a V8 TVR and for me its the one thing that detracts from it as an everyday motor. I would seriously suggest that you borrow one for a day or so or at least get a mate to let you experience this in a real world environment (especially if you've got a narrow garage like me). Having said this, i'm definitely in favour.....

It's not that bad tongue out Get one leg in whilst still standing up and then you practically just fall into place.

Can be a royal pain if someone has parked too close though. Need to be able to open the door fully to make a graceful entry.

Exit is even easier, just one leg out and then you're 95% done.

I use mine everyday for an 8 mile commute - it gets to 73deg in about 3 miles tops (car is garaged) and quickly to 85deg after that. Then I just drive as hard as the road/traffic/lack of grip (at the moment) allows - I like to get at least 2 change light upshifts in every journey driving

This morning, I had to drop my daughter at the 5:50 train and the runabouts had no fuel in them - we just managed to cram her suitcase onto her lap with about 2mm between the face of my stereo and my side cill covers, with me just about managing 1st and 2nd - all accomplished without any damage - who said they aren't practical biglaugh
