Games on a 32" LCD

Just got a PS1 game to play on a PS2 for my 2 year old (he's very clever!).
Using my 32" LCD TV and the cable plus SCART adapter that came with the PS2 to connect to the TV.
Works fine with the PS2 games but this PS1 game doesn't display properly. There is a green line at the bottom of the screen and lots of black lines across the picture like it's not syncronising.
Do I need a different cable?
