what kind of mileage could you expect from such a highly stressed engine before it needed a rebuild?
Depends how you use it like anything else. The crank has more in common with a car crank than a typical small bike crank, the bearings are large and with cometic head gasket, pistons and rods it'll go to 350 bhp without any real issues. Thanks for the info.
I got in touch with TTS and they reckon for 300 reliable bhp, the busa or zx14. The class im looking to run in doesnt have any cc restriction, so to contend with 650hp fire breathing ford based machinery i need something quick and light. ill need to find out the weight of each, and the suitabililty. Busa Rush sounds like you have done your homework with the busa engines did you consider the ZX at the time, would you consider it now? I heard mistral performance are pretty good when it comes to tuning busa engine? Also do you know what sort of rev range do they operate at?

I don't know much about the zx14 other than in the bike it's awesome ! The advantage of the busa is that 1000's of people have turbo charged them and their weaknesses/strengths are well known, people like Richard at TTS or Sean at BigCC wll know exactly what needs to be changed - but for the busa not very much. Not sure about the zx14, nice engine but too new (launched late 2006 I think) for it to be in wide use with turbo / supercharger.I got in touch with TTS and they reckon for 300 reliable bhp, the busa or zx14. The busa will happily rev to 11,000 rpm and SBD have got a normally aspirated 1300cc busa making 240ish bhp at 13,000 rpm with some fancy valve springs and associated parts. You could probably get 12,000 for short periods with stronger valve springsif necessary but one benefit of forced induction is that you can do away with needing high revs so improving reliability.
The only problem with mine is the gearing, with a 3.14:1 diff (Ford Sierra) and 225-45-16" tyres I am geared for about 143mph max, which is too low for some circuits. You can buy on overdrive 6th gear which gives another 8% if you need it.
A mate of mine stuck a hayabusa engine that had come from Mistral and that i think had around 210bhp. It was built to perfection with all the bits on it, i think it cost him in the region of 28 grand, that was three or four years ago. In order to get near the front runners it think 300 is needed now.
I got the R400 for this season as its got around 220, but im not on slicks.
I liked the fury blade, and racing wise the speed of the gear changes up and down is tremendous, theres no restriction if trick-shifters are used, different from RGB. Those credentials thrown in with owning a G60 Corrado i have come to the conclusion that s'charging a bike engine is the way ahead.

Its seems a logical way of getting a lot of power output.
