Hi guys,

Going looking at a (relatively) high milage bora 110 1.9 tdi tonight and just after a bit of advice on what to look for.

It has 120k on the clock and is priced accordingly, I know the car is due a cambelt service (previously done at 60k) and was wandering roughly how much this would cost (i.e how much do I need to knock the seller down!!)?

Also is there anything else specific to look at with this age / model of car??

Cheers

Si.

My Dad paid about £375 (don't quote me though) a couple of months back on his Passat. The waterpump is done at the same time and included in that price.

i would get the water pump dones as well as its only about what 30-40 extra.
If the water pump breaks then the cambelt needs to be stripped off to remove it anyway. getting the water pump done would be the same labour charge.

So it makes sense to have them both done at same time

Cheers guys,

Found a local indie who will do the belt and pump for 325 quid all in, sounds about right compared to what others have paid.

Pretty impressed with the car so far considering what I payed for it, is there any thing else I need to watch with this engine / car??

Cheers si
