I'm currently looking at replacing my front disc's and looking at new pads, but there seems to be so many different types and costs.

I only use the car at weekends and have never taken the car on track in 4 years of ownership, but I may in the near future although this would be very rare.

What do you guys use?

I recently changed the front pads on mine from EBC Green Stuff to EBC Red Stuff and I found the Red Stuff way better.

I'll be making the same change with the back ones before too long as well.

I've got EBC yellows on at the moment, and they're pretty darn good, both in terms of absolute stopping power and fade resistance (although a second hot lap of the ring had the fronts smokin' a bit). They're a wee bit noisey though, if such things worry you.

I've got some Pagids waiting to go on - Blues (RS-4) for the rear and Yellows (RS29) for the front. Just got get busy wearing the EBCs out!

My thinking is that in road trim, the Cerb is heavier than its racing cousins and there's more weight transfer under braking (despite the track-biased Nitron set-up), so a high-friction endurance pad is probably the best overall solution. Given the lower burden taken by the rear, a more progressive pad which is less likely to snatch, is possibly a better bet.

They do come with big warnings that say "Not suitable for road use", though.whistle

EBC Reds, are a very good pad IMHO.

They can squeel like a bit*c, so be warned.

I run them on my car and sprint and track mine regularly.

Great feed back Guys.

I've been looking at the Red Stuff pads, and think I might as well go with them especially after these comments.

Cheers

Not sure what pads I have but they squealed badly.
Have Clever Trevor anti-squeal shims fitted now and they work really well.
Only very occasionally do they squeal a little - normally when she's been sat unused for a while.
Expensive mind you.

I think it is clevor trevor that sell the EBC Red Stuff pads, might as well order pads and anti squeal shims too (to be safe). 14 quid for the front set I think?

Just looked at my records and the shims are £10 for the rears and £12 for the fronts - excluding the VAT.

I got mine off this crowd

http://www.ebcbrakesltd.co.uk/

FWIW, they are NOT the manufacturers, just a dealer.

Their site had the info I needed to order online.

By the way

If any of you have any questions on EBC give us a call at EBC on 01604 583344 and ask for Bob or Andrew B who will try to help you

Bob is an accomplished navigator in road rallying and a certified Race Marshall,Andrew B is a preety keen classic Formula Ford racer with a quattro on the road and has been evaluating and talking about EBC goodies for years.

We are here to help if you think you have the wrong bits or getting fobbed off folks

Thanks for the biz from all loyal EBC customers, we do manage to sell 16,000 sets of sport brakes a month in the UK so we cant be all bad wink and were grateful for that following .We got approved by Silverstone recently, now OE on Morgan and OES on Lotus and the only brand I know to have passed the Metropolitan Police chase car test which is WAYYY more tough than simple R 90 testing, includes pedal travel, fade, wear life and temperatures up to 1000 C reached in the test, they went for yellows and Grooved rotors which brought brake temps down 100 degress with the air pull-through.

Thanks Andy

Don't have EBC's on the Cerb but do on my S4 (yellow stuff R compound), and they are great for road & track use. Did 20+ laps of the Ring over a weekend and 25 minutes on the Nurburgring GP circuit and managed to holt 1700kg of V8 Audi without any fade at all. Blued the discs but the pads were excellent, although disc wear does look a little more than with normal road pads.
