Boot catch, that is.....

When I first had the 'Ro, I'm sure I could hit the boot release button (either one) and walk round to the back and open the bootlid at my leisure. However, now, I have to apply a little positive upwards pressure on the bootlid as I press the key fob button, otherwise I can't open it.

Any ideas which scenario is the correct one? It's annoying having to switch off and take the key with you if you need something out of the boot. It's in for service soon so if there's something amiss, I'll get them to look at it.

Yes, same effect for both that and the fob buttons, the boot catch operates (you can hear it) but unless you're actually lifting the lid at the time, it just locks itself again.......?

Just wind the bump stop rubbers out a bit so it "self lifts". They compress over time and lose their springiness.

I had the same with my HSV, it turned out to be the gas struts that has let go. Once removed I found that they did not have much go left in them. This happened after a very hot spell of weather a couple of years ago.
