Newbie to Tuscan forum

[V8 Devil]

Hi All,

I'm just about to move from the Chim to a Tuscan S. The car is a cat d flood damaged tuscan with an S spec engine. It's been suggested in the Chim forum that I change my login name to Noah but I think it will be S6 Devil but as yet undecided.
The engine was rebuilt 3000 miles ago before the flood and now needs stripping, checking and anything damaged replacing then bolting back together. The cats and lambdas need replacing, electrics checked, front grill refitting and carpets cleaned but apart from that she's got no other damage. I'm trying to decide who to do the work, my options are STR8 SIX, Austec, TVR Power or an ex factory bodyshop worker to do the bodywork and his engine builder to do the engine. Who would you choose, or did you choose? I want it done proper;y, obviously and want a 2 year warranty on the engine but don't know who to use. Value for money is also a biggy!
As the cats need replacing could I just have it decatted and not replace the cats. Excuse my ignorance but I am no mechanic and don't have a clue what this involves.
Any ideas and suggestions greatfully received.

hi ,the engine is cominig out so it wouldnt be much to decat,there are a few good indies you have mentioned but i think tvr power are giving the best warranty..3 year unlimited milage..just my opinion but if someone is willing to warranty anything (never mind a s6) for 3 yrs unlimited they must have great confidence in what they are doing..plus they have a lot of happy customers to reinforce this.....as i say just my opinion,

When decatting are the cats taken out and decat pipes fitted?
Where did you get your tuscan 2 grille from, mine has something similar but it may need a new one as it was pushed back by the flood water. Any idea of cost?
Are TVR power giving 3 or 2 year warrantys? If 3 years that sounds promising.

hi mike i can fully recommend jc at str8 six although power are offering a longer warranty he reallly does know his stuff. although i cannot comment on the others as ive only had the one rebuild which was by str8 six. he is always willing to give as much free advice as you want and runs an open workshop so you can just walk in and ask how things are going. at the time of my rebuild he had two cars in waiting for reworking straight after being done by one of the other companys mentioned in your op. with regards to de catting ive heard its not so good for the engine.

some people go for decat pipes or you could just poke the centres out of your existing cats (if they are scrap),your choice.
the grille is from fibreon,think it was around £200.if your unsure about who to go for just phone and speak to a few people..you will find tvr is a fairly close community and there are some excellent independents ...
personally i would go with the longest warranty....as i always say 'just my opinion'.
