Brake hoses

For Info. I have just purchased two new short brake hoses for an S3. The company I bought them from matched my original hoses to a Lucas TRW hose part No PHC142C. The hose is listed for Ford Consul 2/72 - 8/77, Granada 2/72 - 4/85 and Lotus Esprit 8/78 - 9/81. The hose is about 1cm longer which shouldn't make any difference. The end fittings are 10mm x 1mm, a metric fine thread I believe.

Hi all - I brought a goodridge braided set from rally design (6 lines),I am sure it was £46, it says on the box pt no STV0920-6P TVR S2/S3 rear drum - which would suggest that they are the same.

I have wondered about braided hoses for a while. Is there one standard set for an S3 and would it be as per the above in Sean's post as £46 sounds good to me??

Later - I've just been on the Rally Design website and put in the number - it wasn't recognised and they don't list TVR in the braided hose sets list so maybe they don't do them any more?

gerald in short no they wont fit the s3 has discs the ones you want for a s2 are from a talbot avenger 09-73/10-82lucas/trw part no phc138c these are 3/8unf and the fronts i used are from a ldv pilot 04-89/03-96 lucas/trw part no pha313c and these are 10mm

I thought only S4 & V8S had rear discs and the rest had rear drums?

chris if you are right there is an issue here the brake pipe in the photo will not fit a standard s2,if you look at the photo the threaded ends are different lenghts the s2 are the same length approx 26mm also mercky said they are metric but the hoses on the rear of an s2 are 3/8 unf

Hi - I rang them, they do have them, I brought mine last month, mine is an S3c with rear drums.

Very interesting Sean especially as my car is also an S3C. Have you fitted them yet so I know they are correct?

No I have not fitted them yet - probably 1 - 2 more weeks before that stage.

Hi - the pipes fit correctly, the threads at each end are M10 x 1mm pitch, they went stright in - Rally design sell them, but you will need to ring them as they are not on the internet site.

Metric and UNF are so close that they will fit together...it does not help that posted here people are seeing metric AND imperial fittings in the same place! on much the same cars. The brass fittings WILL denote what fittings you have....on the edge of the hex part of the fitting where you put the spanner a metric fitting (male or female) will have small nicks and imperial fitting have none.
