Blue sportracer advice
Discussion
afternoon all,
I'm interested in getting hold of a blue sportracer. There's one in the classifieds with only 4,300 miles on it. I've enquired about the car and it wasn't first serviced until 2800 miles. That's unusual and certainly not something I'd have done with my brand new sportracer. Just wondered what you owners thought? I've heard the toyota/yamaha engine is very strong and all that but it would appear to have been owned by someone with little mechanical sympathy and likely to have been thrashed senseless from new.
I'm put off but they've just taken 2k off the price so the garage might be keen to shift it.
Magnificent car that elise though, I can't wait to have one for the summer. It goes without saying that if any of you out there have a cherished sportracer that you might be looking to sell, please let me know and we might be able to sidestep the whole dealer margin racket.

Hmmm, assuming it's not been a dealer demo, the previous owner may have underestimated the backlog of bookings - depending on the dealer you can be waiting up to a month until you can get the car in - especially if they couldn't book a weekday off.
Having said that, it isn't massively consistent with the overall mileage...
Ask to see the ECU printout from the first service - this will help to tell you how the engine has been treated.

no one know anyone looking to sell a blue sportracer then?
No, but I see you're a copywriter so
Try posting on www.seloc.org and see if anyone identifies themselves. Quite a few dealers lurk there as well.
