I known Clarkson bangs on about the Swiss hating cars all the time, but seriousley, in a country with more Ferrari's per capita than anywhere* and lots of classic car collections, is it true?

My concern is, that when I rock up at the border at the end of June (after the Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or in Dijon)in my noisey, uncatted, tank - will I get in?

Also anyone know if there's speed cameras in the tunnels north of Neuchatel?

Ta.

Both Honda Euro tours we have been on, one or more of us have been pulled by the Swiss police, they are genuinely car haters, you need to buy a full years road tax to drive on their motorways. The place and roads are stunning though. I am driving to Malta in the morning it will take me about 4 or 5 days I will be going through Switzerland.

I have seen some very tasty motors in Geneva, including 2 Audi R8s at Christmas. I have no doubt they rarely leave the city any other way than motorways though!

Not sure about that particular tunnel but it would be safe to assume they have...

I was giving a tad large last year coming down the mountain in France and got to border control, he clearly heard me coming, kept me hanging around 5 minutes and let me on my way. Gave me a very disapproving look after a couple of miles the Police followed us and tailed for 10 miles. We didn't overtake anyone in Switzerland they hate this and report you and speeding is a deffo avoid. Two Elises got Newspaper coverage last year for Racing alledgedly!

On Staples2Naples2005, one of the attendees rear-ended another quite heavily before they got onto the motorway, and the damage from this in conjunction with speeds getting on for double the speed limit on the motorway immediately after meant something like a 900franc (may have been a lot more though, 4000 rings a bell for some reason...) immediate fine or the car was impounded.

Take it easy (and the scenery can be very distracting anyway, it would be a shame to miss it wink ) and more-or-less observe speed limits, and it's a beautiful country smile .
