A slightly contentious post here as it isn't strictly for a bike, rather a BEC, but there are probably more in the know people here than in the kit car forum! The Fury needed a service and as I'm hoping the weather is going to hold out for a run with some colleagues tomorrow morning I decided I'd do a quick oil, oil filter and sparks change this evening.

Could someone confirm whether the oil filter on the fireblade (893cc RR) is normal or reverse threaded! The replacement I've bought (determined by the OpieOils filter finder) has a normal thread, but I can't for the life of me get the bl**dy thing off. This isn't helped by restricted access meaning I'm struggling to get a screwdriver through it. Any other suggestions on how to get it off welcome!

Thanks
Hugh

Strap wrench, or get a proper oil filter tool (like a very large diameter but very shallow socket); most bike shops will stock one.

Oh, and by the way it should be a normal thread; forgot to say!

Its off now, just wanted to check it was normal threaded and I wasn't been stupid; resorted to hammering a smaller screwdriver through it in the end from the opposite side than I had previously been trying.

I tried the strap wrench, but couldn't get enough force onto it because of the position of the exhaust manifold.

Cheers
Hugh

Don't force it; use a hammer!
