Nope (working) but looking at the web site there are still a lot of places still un-nominated and end date for submissions is 2nd Aug.

We've got a Chairman - Simon Lacey nominated.

I'm not up on club procedures etc. What happens if no-one gets nominated for some of the posts?

The Committee has the power to co-opt people to any post felt necessary for the smooth-running of the Club (or it did have when I was on it). In other words, if you do go to the AGM, keep your head down or you may find yourself press-ganged, oops I mean co-opted, on

The club rules are very general with only the chair, secretary and treasurer as named posts. The committee quorum is 5. The committee has the power to do virtually anything.

You may have noticed that the Editor of Sprint's post is not being contested this time. I understand that some of the Directors have resigned due to the change in the Editors status.

I look forward to the next few Sprints with interest. (The rules say all officers have to submit a report to Sprint before the AGM.)

The editor's status is a critical thing. It relates to indemnity and tax. As a self employed editor he takes from the club the responsibility for everything that goes into Sprint. So a law suit would be against the editor and not the club. Also, as a full time employee of the club the club should be handling the editor's payroll correctly, like witholding NI and tax. Without full employment status the editor is self employed and this gives the club a personal tax issue.

So as far as I can see the only course of action is for the editor's post to be a full-time emplyment by the TVRCC.

There appears to be a lot "chinese" whispers doing the rounds ar present about the TVRCC and the committee and who does what, when and why.

The best way to find out is to attend the AGM on 27th Sep in Kent. If you cannot perhaps I may be able to clarify a few things from my understanding of the current situation.

(i) The TVRCC now has circa 7,000 members and as such it is more like a small company than a club, but it is still run as it was when I joined over 10 years ago when it had less than 2,000 members. Since then TVR have produced more superb models and as a marque it arguably has the largest following in the country (just look at number of hits on the TVR page on PH) and it is expanding by about 250 members (net)per month. So, it's got growing pains.

(ii) The committee has been having wide ranging discussions about which structure and direction to take - which can only be healthy. Some committee members are not standing again but this is vastly different than resigning as all committee members have to be re-elected to their positions each year - this is one of the rules of the club and anyone can stand. Each member has one vote. True there are posts currently without nominations but there are still a few days until the deadline. If you have expertise that could benefit the Club, please step forward.

(iii)The key posts are increasingly taking more time and can no longer be handled on a voluntary, part-time basis. This has been the case for a while now with the committee members working MANY hours to keep the Club running and producing a wide range of membership services that are increasingly expected by the members.

I have stuck my head over the parapet and have been nominted to stand as Club Chairman. I formed and was RO of East Sussex for 5 years, but lately my main input into the club has been to arrange the Clubs annaul Le Mans trip.

I am under no illusions that the Club faces some big challenges to structure itself for the expected growth in membership and I know that communciation needs to be vastly improved at all levels as well as both ways.

So turn up for the AGM, or if you can't then at least vote. Better still if you have a passion for TVR then put yourself forward and help the committe improve what the Club offers to members, whatever model they drive.

I can't agree more. And these are the sentiments I use when running my region. there's a helathy number of members who want to benefit from the club but who can't/won't contribute to organising it. The frustrating thing from an RO's perspective is that members can be very critical of low levels of club activity. If more were to contribute club life could be significantly better.

But what I am definitely NOT saying is "put up or shut up". Those voted onto the committee of the Club serve
the members.

Constructive criticism is a good thing.

Well a chairman who seems to want to move the club forward and continue what has been started by previous comittees - that style gets my vote

thanks to Chris , who is standing down this year, for his work and input

Would like to, but the 900 mile round trip is a little prohibitive at the moment.

OTOH, I applaud those who give voluntarily of their time and effort to help run the club, contribute their ideas, and make the whole thing work on behalf of all members - committee members, ROs and others.

If there were multiple nominations for every position there might be scope for a debate on the style of running the club, but since there is unlikely to be, the members get what they get from those volunteers.

Congrats, guys. Your work is appreciated.
