looking for a bit of advice before spending a fortune at a main dealer. I've got a 1997 E36 328i touring with factory fitted alarm which will lock and unlock intermitently.I've changed the battery in the fob, cleaned connections in the fob but it still works when it feels like it. The immobiliser is unaffected but it's a bit embarrassing and suspect driving about with the alarm going off. Just locking it on the key at the moment and due to go into a bmw dealership in east sussex on monday, don't really want to pay a fortune so any advice would be most welcome.Cheers matt

Most of the problems normally end up just being the fob as the cause of the issue.

The systems are easy to diagnose so hopefully they can come up with an answer quickly for you and keep that cost down.

What type of FF alarm have you got...what fob do you have, long with single button, square with single button and corner cut off or square with 2 buttons and corner cut off?
If its the last one (system 3G)I have had a few issues with aerials over the years...This is a replacable item which slots into control unit.

If they come up with it wants a new control unit then shop around for an alternative better alarm-Cobra,Gemini etc from halfrauds or specailists. It will work out cheaper for you in the long run....alot cheaper.

I get the same problem when I use my spare key fob (square, 2 buttons, corner cut off) Where do you get the replacable aerials from?

The other fob works fine. The spare locks and unlocks the car remotely fine, but then the hazzard warning lights go nuts and wont switch off.
