Ok, removing the pre-cats - anything nasty to avoid? Like toxins etc that make you go mad or blind etc? Is it a case of attacking it with a chisel/screwdriver/drill and chipping it away? Am I makeing it harder than it looks?:

Take your Lambda sensor out, they are quite expensive to replace. I'm a cold chisel man personally wink

Really long SDS drill bit and a sharp drift/screwdriver to keep digging away, you know they always say the second one is easier,it bloody wasent that thing really put up a fighteeka cheap face mask and gloves would not go amiss while your hacking away at those things, they contain nasties, and what Spend said about the probesthumbuphave fun

Looks like more tool 'adjustment' to get the o2 sensors out! A cut in a deep socket should work i guess.

Speaking of which, after searching lambda sensors on the forum there was a guy who got some cheap ones from the US that he reckoned worked:

any thoughts?

Thanks

I did the stupid thing and left the sensors in place, but was fortunate not to damage them. The pre-cats were in great condition,so were a bit of a pig to get out. Tried all sorts of drill bits... masonry (&SDS),wood and metal, but found by far the quickest favourite to be a long Bosch 14mm wood auger bit (with the occasional help from an angled pry bar with a chisel end).Oh.. and the good old hammerhehe

Good luck mate thumbup

Harley

eta, after full removal of the pre-cat i spent ages with a hoover trying to get all the bits out,but was surprised to see how much came out of the manifold on start up before i put it back together(worth doing for the noise alonewink)
