I been reading a bit, but what would everyone suggest for the Exige S at this point in time, any new manufacturers worth having a look at?

also, being a pleb, could i fit it myself?

Larni or 2tblar are the best. I have a 2tblar one myself. If you look at the threads of a few days ago there are picture instructions

I've got Lotus's own Stage 2 on mine - sounds great - i chose it because there have been posts on here before saying Lotus will sometimes not honour warranty on a new car if using an aftermarket / nonapproved exhaust

I have a 2bular - superb 'zorst. Build quality is without equal and the noise is brilliant. I have also owned a Lotus stage 1, nice sound but so heavy it is rude and the build quality is rubbish. Lasted 14 months (waranty lasted 12). Lotus stage 2 is too loud for many UK tracks.

I'd say it's very similar. (the old exhaust on my car was Lotus stage 2)

I'll be doing a db reading of my Larini exhaust soon so will let you know when I know thumbup

I think I need it to be louder than a Stage 2, as I have been in the car with one of these and whilst very nice it didn't excite me as much as I might like.

I am thinking 2bular, but I don't want to have wait ages for it, I hear he is way back on orders at the moment.

Did a noise reading at the weekend; 100.4 dB at 3/4 revs 0.5m 45degrees.

That's with a sports cat, so to make it slightly more aggresive perhaps you might want to take the cat off? Or Larini may be able to do something for you; give them a call.

Hi Tony,

So too loud for most UK track days if they do a static test. When I finally change mine I'll be going for an 8" 2bular, which is about the quietest he does.

If loud is what you want, get a 2bular Ultra. I drove an Exige with one of these, and it's the loudest exhaust on any road car I have ever heard. Once over 4k revs you can't speak to your passenger...

Hi Kev,

Even the notoriously strict Bedford is 101dB.

Nevertheless, Larini will be making me a track day "tip". Because of the way the exhaust is done it's a simple slip joint which is easily accesible from under the car without taking the diffuser off.

So, for track days, change over the exhaust tip for slightly lower noise. I'll be doing maybe 4-6 days a year so it's feasible for me.

I know what you maen about the ultra exhausts though; the sound is nothing like I've heard before but I'd imagine, as good as it is, it would become tiresome very quickly and the girlfriend will never want to come in the car again. Hang on, I see a plan forming...

Larini also offer a quieter range - whilst I haven't heard a car fitted with one of these yet, I have a feeling these will become more popular in the future
