29 years of waiting over !! Picked up 355 yesterday
Discussion
Well after 29 years of wanting one, 6 years of asking questions on here and 2 years of hunting for one I finally picked up my first Ferrari yesterday a 5.2 37k mile car
I will post a full story of my experiences in the week which others may find helpful, I looked at probably at least 20 cars Private, Main dealer and independent.
In the end I bought the best one I could find privately from Chris 355 and it’s a great car, I had it inspected at Grimaldi engineering a 170 point check giving condition and comments on each point !!!!!!!!!! The inspection and service was so good that when I buy my next additional F car it will be going back there no matter wherever it is located.
Quick first impressions are that the interior is simply as new no wear on seats or side bolsters, unlike many cars I looked at its never been reconolised just looked after. The exterior is Zymoled and looks superb, there are no creaks, rattles or odd noises.
I spent 4 hours in it yesterday as the A12 was shout on the way home !!! a 1 and ¾ hour journey turned into 4 , no overheating no agro just sat in 9 miles of stationary traffic as though it was a repmobile.
To say I am seriously happy is an understatement and to anyone looking for a 355 at the moment, there are lots of seriously ropey cars out there but if you look hard enough then there are some really good ones left …. Not that I imagine I will ever sell mine !!!!!!
Excuse the poor photos the light was going !

Congrats Phib, been looking for over a year myself. I came close to a black GTS on one occasion but lost it to a better bid, on another lost a lovey gunmetal grey GTB (owner didn't want to include TUBI in the price!). So well done, I have seen about 7/8 complete dogs myself!
Enjoy. Will keep an eye on your posts and look forward to reading more as you learn about the car!

Wow.................As someone who has dreamed all his life of owning a Porsche 911 (right since childhood and the 356) and in all likelihood never will, all I can say is good on yer mate. That car looks stunningly beautiful from every angle, hope you get on well. (Play nice together now!)
That is truly one lovely machine!
I'm also hoping this is going to be my year after several close calls, I would say to anyone here that dreams but think it can never happen, just dont give up - everyone has a talent - find yours!
A friend of mine owned a 355 some 4 years ago for around 2 years, I'd always loved Ferrari's (I like Porsche, but somehow doesnt have the same emotional effect on me) - but to to actually spend some real time in one just sealed it for me
They look fantastic, go well, corner well and (possibly with a tubi?) sound amazing
My only hold up at the mo is I'm wondering about my garage space - gave up a certain amount of the practicality ideas a while back, conclusion being if you are going to be 100% practical give up and buy a vectra - done a measure of the garage and it would appear width and length is ok!
So I'll look forward to reading your stories about ownership with great enthusiasm
Now get out there and drive the thing!!
