Could anyone suggest some good driving roads around Glasgow? Would like to learn a few day trip routes with nice scenery and good curvy/ technical roads. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Hard to beat the A82 up to Crianlarich (or beyond through Glencoe to Fort William) or the A83 to Campbeltown. Both have twisty bits, very fast straights and outstanding scenery.

If you want a quick blast (and by quick i mean 20 minutes), the Old Glasgow road from Newton Mearns to Stewarton is good (if you can get it when it's quiet), very twisty with plenty to keep your mind busy.

For the quick blast, do you mean the road through the middle of this map, going through Windy Yett, from Newton Mearns to Stewarton?

If someone could edit this post to make it work.. Please do.

Or tell me how to make proper hyperlinks.

The road north out of Moffat is worth the drive down the motorway to get to...

Yeah that's the road, the B769.

Ps, thanks to everyone for all their suggestions, can't wait for the next sunny weekend! smile

Here is another great road south of Glasgow parallel with the M74

The Glen Fruin Road near Faslane is another decent road, its maintained by the military so (last time i was on it)its well surfaced and very quick.

Another is the A760 out of Largs to Kilbirnie. Some extremely fast sections on there, always remember chasing a mate of mine down there and getting caught up with a few bikers who were more than game for a bit of a blast. Good road, but torture if its busy as it can be very difficult to pass.

The A71 from Kilmarnock to the M74 is good as well, but the cops tend to patrol it a lot as its a known hot spot for speeders.

The Eaglesham Moor Road that runs from the A77 to Eaglesham can be fun as well now it's been resurfaced when the M77 was finished. Drive it at night and it can be a little spooky as there is hardly any traffic on it and its been changed to single lane (the road is actually 2 lanes wide)

Easiest option is to not bother with sat nav and just go wandering.
