Road Wars and Juvenile offenders
Discussion
Watched this on Sky last night.
The programme follows the traffic antics of various lunatics in the Thames Valley region, mainly in Slough and Reading along the M4 corridoor.
Thankfully the focus wasn't just another 'Speed Kills' type programme.
I was shocked and amazed at the sort of stuff that goes on, with US style car chases etc.
What pissed me off most though was the number of incidents involving 'juveniles' driving stolen cars, no insurance, no licence, no tax etc.etc.etc.
For example. Bloke on a moped got stopped, no L-Plate and carrying a pillion with just a provisional licence! However, He counted his blessings when the patrol spotted a car driving with no lights (at night) who refused to stop. They raced after her (so moped boy gets off scot free!). Eventually stop driver who was a 15 year old girl! Obviously no licence/insurance/tax etc.
Amazingly she kept saying "I'm not going to get into trouble am I"????
The saddest aspect of all of this is the minor punishments that they receive.
As far as I'm concerned, anyone over the age of about 8 years old should do a custodial sentence - the harsher the better. A lot of kids these days have NO respect for the law (or authority in general) and they need to learn it! The bloody parents are certainly no help

I agree, these "kids" know the difference between right and wrong. They also know they can "get away" with a serious offence with little or no punishment.
Thrash them with the birch then take their money off them, then take their possessions and so on.
Their buddies in crime will soon curb their behaviour.
Guaranteed.

Tell me about it. I saw this show the girl went unpunished!
Why is it better for a 15 year old girl to be driving uninsured at night with no license than for me to do 87mph?
Any of the rozzers care to explain?
No Toad foolery here. I am honestly pissed off?
If I was x years younger, uninsured and didn't have a license I would have been let off my SP50? Why???
I'm livid.
All the rozzers care about is camera's, anything else they just ignore.
What about the Guy, no license, tax or insurance, 100+mph down the hard shoulder of a busy to avoid capture. He got an 18 month Ban, though presumably he was already banned for something.
However 130+ in a licensed, and insured vehicle seems to get you a stretch inside, someone explain that to me.....

first of all I'm sure any policemen who saw that girl didnt get punished would be just as outraged as any of us!
But as I have said before I consider this to be extremely serious. My partner and kids could be the people this pea brain crashes into! or any one of you/yours
cars are a lethal weapon so charge her with attempted murder and throw away the key!

I think blame should be placed with Government. This particular government have got nothing right. Nothing at all. Education, crap Health, Crap Law and Order Total crap. Public opinion is now totally ignored in favour of developing a celebrity culture and using spin to sort out conflict.
Tony Martin being jailed was wrong. Archer being released is wrong. The Iraq conflict was about oil not terrorism. Many of my friends are now being told they cannot video their own kids in the school play because of pedophiles for ****s sake who has won? The
pedophiles have won. We are run by totally incompetent people who allow organised crime and the civil service to waste all our resources whil persecuting the people who are paying for everything. Time to kick bad government out and start voting good government in. No good will come from complaining about trivial issues like one child getting it wrong once when the government, the administration and the judiciary always get it wrong all the time

Facts please Toad!
;-)
No. the decision to let the girl off was a police decision.
AFAIA the decision not to caution me was a police decision.
I'm prepared to stand corrected on the second statement.

Driving *with* tax and insurance has become a de facto offence.
I've started covering my plates. How long beofre I just surrender my license and become immune to prosecution?

To be fair all the program said was she was not charged with anything, it did not say who made that decision. The COP dealing with it at the time looked less than impressed....

Caution. If she got a caution it's the rozzers... I think.
Well anyway I've got to hate someone for my SP50 and I see more rozzers about than high court judges so it's an easy call!!
wasnt there someone who sped away from the police, got rammed, and then ran into the police man breaking his leg, and all he got was banned/fined, but no prision.
How does this equate to the bikers doing 156mph going to prision. Surley failing to stop, speeding and then running over a policemand deserves prision?
