Where does the noise come from? Sometimes the exhaust can hit resonance and just buzz against the bell housing or chassis, but unless you can tell where it's coming from it will be difficult to identify.

PS Do us all a favour and press this again would you?

The buzzing noise comes from the engine bay i think!(unless someone listens balanced on the engine while im doing 50 on the local A road!)(that would be a sight!) anyway i can feel the buzz when im driving and holding gear knob and it reverberates round anything loose/metal it only does it from 1900 to 2000 revs (not even half a second if you are going through the gears!) its just really weird it does it only between those revs!!!! its starting to really get my goat although its not a loud buzz i know its there!!!!!!

The exhaust should be strapped to the back of the engine. Have a look and make sure it's still secure there, and look back along the rest of the exhaust to check it isn't close to the chassis at any point.

Just blagged a couple of minutes on the ramps before my local garage shut and the exhaust is fixed ok not loose and not touching or too close to the chassis to cause the buzzing/vibration sound so back to square 1! any new ideas chaps??????

I have a similar buzzing from behind the dash, right top centre of the dash.
I have removed the dash top so I should be able to see where the noise is coming from, but still haven't figured out what it is???

Good luck fella - I've spent about 2 hours trying to work out where its coming from and I still can't figure it out frown

Have known an "after market" heat shield to give this noise if its mounted too close to the manifold, and only under load through the gears

If its really that bad its worth getting someone in the know to take a look - TopCats racing are my favourite but might be a bit of a trek for you. It does sound like the exhaust.

Am I right in thinking it doesn't do it if you rev in that rpm range when in neutral?

If not then perhaps it could be something along the transmission. Does the gear stick vibrate as well?

Did it vibrate when it was up on the ramp?

Although saying that, I had a similar vibration to yours (can't remember the rev range) and after an uncomfortable drive or two it was diagnosed as an exhaust issue, which tragically could only be resolved by the fitting of two Cherry Bombs.wink

The silencer box was coming loose - an easy fix. The vibration only occured under load (the vibrations being different under load compared to a free reving engine)

Nope - mines at about 3500rpm - with nothing either side of the rev range. Does happen when not in gear and car stationary too so nothing transmission based...
I'll have another look later.

Good luck with this - I see you're West Midlands, you could try Torque RVT in Middlewich.

Ian is v helpful and will pro put it on a ramp for you

His numbers 01606831244

He works all hours but tends to answer the phone more during the day as he's by himself in the evenings
