Inertia Switch Warning Light ( i )
Discussion
Whilst driving the Chim yesterday I noticed the Inertia Warning Light was flickering on & off (On the Dashboard)
When I started car this morning the light came on (not flickering) & after a couple of miles went out again
Having looked in the Hand book, I believe this light should only come on in the advent of an accident & I assume cut out the fuel pump & disable the car
The car is still running ok, any ideas why the light has come on?
I did drive over a wheel trim in the road yesterday, wonder if it may have disloded a wire or something under the car?

Sounds like it is getting a false earth some how. The sitch itself is up in the dash on the pasenger side, and perhaps turning off and on again may solve it. It's a unit about 10cm long, and 5cm square with one end with the switch covered in a rubber cover.
It's probably more annoying than anything else, and to solve sounds like you may have to drop the dash down and look at wiring, you'll find I think that it's an LED mounted to a small circuit board about the size of a stamp.

Assume you mean the MIL light? If so I'd have thought it was due to an ECU emissions fault code rather than Inertia switch. Role of that is just to switch off all power to fuel pump.
Replace the inertia switch immediately.
IIRC they're about £10
The spring inside can soften with age.
Its supposed to have two positions on and off. When it goes soft they can begin to trip and stick half way, normally after some greater than usual force like your wheel trim or my airfield cornering.
My Griff doesn't have a warning light so I don't know if this causes the flickering light.
They can cut out for no apparent reason. I got out the car leaving the engine still running. 30 seconds later it just stopped.
When I got the new switch and subjected them both to identical shocks the old one tripped much sooner.
Imagine it tripped when you're committed to overtake with oncoming traffic.
These should be treated as service items and replaced every few years.
