Frame number on chassis ?

I found this number when wire brushing the front lower beam of the chassis.
What kind of number is this ? There is no relation to the VIN number.

Could it be your car's date of birth? 17th September 1992.

It could be, it was registered in November 1992. Nice to know the real date of birth of my baby. Do all TVR (S) have this plate ???

Mine didn't have that. Mine's a 1989 S2 though.

Maybe that's how much it'll end up costing for the refurb?

Nothing like that on mine... = 1991 so if it is a date maybe they started doing after mine ?

Now that is interesting, I found a similar plate on mine when I started on the restoration. Slightly different place, front TOP crossmember, near side. Number is 1294, cannot be date as mine is a 1988 car. I took a picture at the time;

Maybe it's a workman's joke to weld a plate sometimes here and there ?

But I still like the idea of a birthday plate ;-)
