Hi All,

Just bought another ZX9R after a two year break and am looking for a new helmet. I've come across the Caberg V2 which i like the look of but haven't heard of Caberg before. Has anyone got any experience of them and are they any good?

Cheers

I've got one.

Rather well vented, so doesn't mist up, but can be a bit draughty. Swings and roundabouts, I guess. Not sure about noise - I've never had anything else, but it seems like a decent helmet to me, and the sunvisor bit can be useful.

I like the sunvisor element of them too. I'll try a few on, pity you can't roadtest them before you buy!

Cheers

I would love mine if only it had a little more room in the chin area frown

I had one while i was instructing, visor parts great! But there is a lot of wind noise. This can be solved by putting a little strip of rubber, tape or something down between the sides of the visor and the helmet.I never actually tried this cure but i was just riding along and put my finger up the side of the visor and the noise stopped! This fix wouldn't be an inconvenience on the flip up ones but would be on other models obviously!

Had one since I started my bike training - apart from wind noise been good value for the £100 I paid for mine last year.

they are cheap, maybe for a reason, how much do you value your head? I looked at one and decided my 5 year old Arai was still a better bet. Although the better helmets seem overpriced, you still get what you pay for, IMO, Z

Personally I value my head more than buying a cheap lid like this - Arai and Shoei are in a differnet league in terms of build quality and protection. Yes they are a lot more expensive but they get put through much more stringent testing than the Cabergs.

What testing do Arai and Shoei helmets go through that Cabergs don't?

It is worth noting that simply paying more for a helmet does not necessarily get you a better helmet.

They have the gold stamp that I was told is the best hemets can get at my training - my thoughts at the time of buying were if it meets the same standards as an Arai or any other then it's good enough for me, from what I've heard from mates/others in various forums - Arai's etc are better fits, less wind noise etc, but if you come off a Caberg will protect you just like any other, if I could have I'd have bought a more expensive one, but bike took up a lot of my budget, leathers came to £400 didn't have another £400, so thought I'll buy better later...but I've found it fine..thats been nearly a year.

i've not tried any others to compare noise either. just that after a few hundred miles on mainroads im getting sick of the windnoise. i think a lot of it is that my lid is too large though, as if i hold my hand under the side of the lid (kinda below my ear) it stops all the noise that side. so one that fits should solve that too.
