Logic 7

Reading through various threads the Logic 7 Professional system addition seems to be endorsed.
Is this just a speaker enhancement or does the kit included an additional amplifier.
Also reading between the lines is there additional graphic equalizer controls.

I've got L7 in my new E91. I would say I am a bit of an audiophile - and the L7 system is awesome. It has different amplifiers and more speakers that the standard or even the mid-range upgrade. There is no distortion. It is definitely worth getting the USB interface too.

Why would you go for the USB interface when the Aux in (ipod use) is there even in base d/i spec i.e. below ES/SE/Msport? What does it do over and above an au in?

Aux in means all you control from the headunit is the volume.

IIRC the USB input allows you to actually browse stuff on the ipod/memory stick/other device.

1. If you have an ipod (4G and beyond), there is a special 'Y-cable' you can pick-up which allow the Ipod to be controlled by the Idrive system. Ie. you can access the ipod from the steering wheel / change tracks / etc. and have the names of tracks on the main-display. None of these functions can be achieved with aux-alone.

2. With USB sticks so cheap nowadays (I bought an 8Gb for £20 last week), they are a convenient way of also storing music and again have the bonus of showing track display on screen. USB quality is good as the car decodes the music direct, whereas technically with ipod: digital -> analogue signal -> digital into car again.
