Hi Guys

Does anyone know what time a S1 Elise can post around Oulton Park?

And how much quicker the other models in the range will be?

Just a bit curious to see how far off the pace I am and get an insight into what the other Elises are like, I am considering a 135R

Cheers Nick

Probably just over 2 minutes at a guess - all depends on spec.

Edit >> Just had a quick look at the LoT results and the Class A guys were anywhere between 2.01 and 2.06.

PDF is http://www.lotrdc.com/file_repository/0/02/S1R3_Ou... and qually times are Page 16

As above our times varied from ~1:48 to ~2:08 last May on the International (full) circuit.
A decent class A car time was ~2:00.
A standard 135R would be a slow-ish class A car so ~2:02-03 would be a good time I reckon.
Obviously timing on track days is a no-no anyway...

For reference class C cars (mostly S/C Hondas) ~1:48-1:53, class B (N/A Hondas, 240bhp Ks) ~1:55-1:58.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Fastest Class A laptime was by ... me smile at 2.00.399 Thats an S2 111S which was at the time 160bhp (pre DVA head) and 785Kg empty so 203 bhp/tonne on the original wide ratio* G6 gearbox.

In what?

Hans, if I can get near that at the end of March, I'll be very happy smile

BTW do you get a noticeable tow in an Elise on the straights?

Oulton isn't a slipstreamer of a circuit like Snetterton or Castle Combe. What is crtical on the long circuit is the neatness through the two chicanes as both have steep uphill exits.

You may find my guide useful at: http://www.driversknow.co.uk/motorsport/trackGuide...

When you have the aero of a brick and a near vertical screen, the slipstream is important everywhere smile Was asking because I saw a video of the Heritage race at Spa taken from a Caterham and the Elises didn't seem to routinely tuck in behind the car in front like we do.

Thanks for the link smile

Depends who is driving, I generally nail to the car in fronts bumper on any stratght and keep a couple O hundred revs in hand ready to pop out and up the inside just before the brake zone. LOL In theory. In practise it only works best out of three.

whist it must have some effect, it's not really noticable in an Elise, unless you are following something a lot bigger (like a 430GT/ViperGT/etc).

nothing like a Caterham, where if you pull out of the tow, you actually feel like you have lifted off the gas.
