hi all

i have done a search but not found the answer i was looking for.
does anyone know if a colour wax (eg turtle colour magic) is good to use with a halcyon blue paint job. its not a flip colour but does look different in different lights. the reason i ask is a got a cover to protect the paint over the colder months, removed it and thanks to billy wind has scuffed up the paint rather badly, got to try this first before opting for a full respray(i have been instucted by 'er in doors').
any advice/experiences greatly appreciated as the old girl looks a bit poor at the mo and want to get her on the roads soon as now the suns coming out a bit.........driving

Has the cover just scratched the lacquer coat? if so get onto your local valet co. and get them to machine buff the car. it'll come up a treat,

Good luck

I agree, I'd have thought a machine polish would be the first thing to try?

Out of interest who made your car cover? I have just ordered one for the Sag and don't want to ruin the paintwork so if it's the same one they can have it back.

Cheers and I hope you get your sorted.

I have recently machined polished my car with a meguairs random orbital polisher. The results are excellent.

The polisher is about 150 quid and you need about 3 different grade polishes/abrasives plus a sealant and a wax. These cost about 15 quid each.

Its not a cheap job but it does look the business.

I will post pics of the stuff I used when I get home.

If it's any help for the future, I find that an indoor cover over the Cerbera, with the outdoor one over the top, prevents any scuff marks. It almost polishes it on a windy day! wink

Mothers are ok, but the current trend is to use Menzerna products if you have some experience, or the Meguiars "three step" Products if you are less experienced. The Menz stuff can be a little picky about atmospheric conditions and how you work the polish, whereas the Megs stuff is a little easier.

I had a cover on a Jag a few years ago bought from Halfords , can't remember the make . But i was working away and the car was covered for a couple of months over the winter, when i uncovered the car the paintwork was covered in micro-blisters , caused by the car getting damp , the cover was supposed to be breathable !. I claimed off Halfords and they paid to have the car repainted , their after sales service was great. Might be worth a try.....Pete.
