will be interesting to see if he can do anything in the races or if he will stay so far from the front end like during testing.

No way on this earth is any decent driver over half a second off the pace in themselves.

True this is just testing and as far as we know Renault could be running with more wing, or heavy on fuel or worn tyres etc etc there is no way of knowing who is doing what ( unless you work for all the teams or know someone who does) so the Alonso bashing is a little premature, Although personaly I don't much care for him.
but to say that a decent driver couldn't be .6 off the pace, is not so.
A driver could have personal problems that affect his performance, or illness, or lack of cofidence through high speed corners or a problem in the wet etc etc
