Griff needed for evo mag feature
Discussion
Hi,
We're looking for an early Griff, ideally a 4.3 pre-cat, for a buying guide on 'future classics'. We'd need the car for a day and we'd need to drive it at some stage. In return we can supply fame & fortune (well, maybe not the fortune), some nice photos, contact details if the car's for sale, and a free lunch.
If anyone can help, please call me on 01933 663355 (office hours) or email petert@evo.co.uk
Thanks,
Peter Tomalin

Ok if you must form an queue
I agree. Have mercy on us who have to save their pennies in hope to get their sticky little fingers on one in a year or two...
Anyways - top mag, and about time you folks did something about catering for those who are not after a new or nearly-new performance car. We're not all MD's, lottery winners or IT bods, you know...
Talk about 'future classics' - a comprehensively re-engineered fast road/occasional track Saab 900 Turbo of the classic persuasion with five doors and close to 300 bhp must be worth a look too as a more individualistic and involving RS2/V70R alternative, not?

Peter,
Top mag.Don't you get tired of that?
The only improvement I'd ask for is for it to come out more often. Waiting for a month between issues is tough. I've even been know to buy a copy of Car magazine to tide me over. It's not enough but it gets me by.
Why can't you do a buying guide on the Chimaera? So far you've done the Griff, Cerbera (I think) and the Tuscan but not Blackpool's most common TVR and the easiest route into ownership. The later models are basically re-skinned, prettier Griffs anyway. I agree it doesn't have the hairy chested appeal of the Griff, but some people don't want that. 8000+ owners can't be wrong can they...
Keep up the good work

There was a Chimaera buying guide many many moons ago, it featured a dark green Mplate I think, I about wore the print off it re-reading it when I was about to buy mine, so it's about 4 years ago

Correctamundo, twas issue 5 or 6 I think, either way's very early on.
DOH!
Must have just missed it then. I've got a couple of issues before 10 and then the whole collection from then on. A friend only tipped me of to Evo after I complained about the other car mags. I was re-reading the Chim Vs M Roadster Vs AMG SLK Vs Boxster test the other day. Top stuff.
Thanks guys,
Rob

How about my Griff 500...
As Evo already covered a Griff 4.3 buying guide in issue 38.
All Griff's are classics now, since they've stopped making them. Looking at dealer prices on the autotrader website, the selling price of my at a dealer hasn't budged at all in the last 2 - 3 years
That's £24 - 26k, depending a bit on coulor and location
Photo's off mine should look good, as I just had front respray, courtesy of a mercedes driver who backed into it while stationary and scuffed it slightly.
