Hi

I've been thinking about selling my beast to get a practical, diesel shit-box so I can half fuel bills but I have no idea what it would go for. It's a Supercharged IC 2006 (06) CV8 VZ in Odyssey blue with 20k miles. Extras include a 9psi Magnacharger and a Wortec Sport Pac (Exhaust and Cold air Airbox mod).

On the LSV dyno it made 470bhp at the wheels with 585lbs torque and goes like a rocket. No problems whatsoever and a really nice car to drive.

Any idea (if I did sell it) what I should ask for?

Cheers.

Keep it and get a stbox anyway. If you sell it now you'll take a massive hit. IMHO.

I agree. Mine (stock bar the Wortec bits) is sat in the garage doing very little, but I'm not thinking of selling (I bloody well should be!) for the same reasons. Drive something else daily. smile

More than a standard CV8, less than a VXR? £17k?

I reckon these cars lose about 1.5% per month after the first year hit, which means at this point on you're only (!) losing about £250 a month in depreciation. A new diesel stbox of equivalent value may depreciate by about £350 a month.

So that's £100 a month extra for fuel until you break even.

Keep it. And besides, I seem to recall that...

I'm never selling mine. I've already decided it'll be worth sod all even if I can sell it with a supercharger attached. I'm gonna keep it as a classic and tune it to 600bhp!

I would say about £18500 which would inc some wiggle room.

Of course I said that before I found out how much it would cost to tune it to 600bhp! But you are right, I don't want to sell it really, I'm just wondering if I'll ever get anything back on the mods. The Monkfish demonstrator is older, has much higher mileage and they've ot that up for 21k! It would have to be a very good offer to make me part with it.

Well in most cases the mods don't add a lot of value to a car, and in some cases make them harder to sell ( boy racer and all that).

So why not ask around for the value of the goodies, there seems to be a lot of people on here that as an after thought would like a sports exhust, a super charger and so on.

That way you can ease the price of the car to under cut the competition. I have noticed on another post that someone is willing to do this!

My son and his chums all run big horsepower jap crap, and selling the car this way yeilds a lot more money. In fact last week they chopped a Skyline and made a profit!!!

Sad but all very true.

No point throwing bad money after good. Minimise your depreciation, and make the car more economical by converting to LPG...

There's a thread somewhere that suggests performance may increase if tuned properly due to higher combustion of LPG.....

I've been tinking about it myself for sometime next year dependant on LPG costs...

This is the last one I have. Unfortunately the printer broke before I got the final copy which was for about 520-odd bhp at the flywheel. I'm going to RapidGB soon to try Mark's new dyno and get the final print out:

The trouble is there is a lot of difference between an asking price and a selling price. Monkfish could put it up for £25k, doesn't mean it will sell at that.

Personally I don't think they will sell it at that price.

Is the 520-odd the 470rwhp? If it is then sorry I would question that as the losses through the drivetrain and tyres would be much more than 50bhp

This is why I haven't published any figures until I could verify them. I was stood next to the dyno screen when it said 465bhp, and it did peak at 470bhp. This would have been at the wheels as it was being tuned at the time. The chart is from a previous run a couple of weeks before, before it was finished and shows calculated power at the flywheel.

I was told losses are typically around 60bhp which would put my fwbhp at 530bhp but like I said, I haven't got a print out to prove that; when I have I will post it.

Losses are more like 100+ at that level of power.

Oh goody, that means it makes 570bhp at the flywheel!!

Doesn't matter how you put it, the figures were at the wheels at the time and the number on the screen was between 460 and 470 over several power runs. Mark told me the losses are around 60bhp and I have no reason not to believe him.

We all know dyno figures are rubbish really so for all I know it was just a very innacurate dyno. Can't argue with those torque figures though

When I have a proper printout I'll post it so you can all see.

The only way to compare is at the same dyno on the same day.

You can look at the santa pod times but then you have to add in driver ability (or lack of as in my case).

Nope, this is the only one I have - sorry. I'll ask Mark for a comprehensive set when I next visit.
