Can't see that this has been posted (sorry if it has!). According to the advert, you started the test drive with this....

Damn shame, but he's not the first to have a test drive accident and i'm sure he wont be the last.

Just hope everyone was ok and walked away.

Just had a thought- that wouldn't be covered under most insurance policies unless the owner bent it themselves. Most Ferrari insurance policies very picky about named drivers.

Hi Kevin

Any Chubb masterpiece policy will allow any driver to drive the car as long as they don't live at the address of the main owner/driver

There must be something up insurance wise as why try to sell it? If it was insured just hand the keys over to the insurance company and take the full dealer forcourt price off them?

It says in the add that it was only 3rd Party!! Which probably means that it wasn't driven by the owner.

Yes, I know that thanks Jon- I've had them before. They're the gold standard policies though, with premiums to match; the cheaper policies that most people use DON'T cover other drivers. Shows you that you need *proof* that someone test driving your car is insured (unless you're with CHUBB Jon!).

In order to insure a car you have to have an insurable interest which normally means you own it - the normal way to have someone insured on a vehicle is to add them to your insurance policy.

"Reduced by £2500 for a quick sale." I reckon it'll take more than £2500 to polish that out!!

Not necessarily. I have arranged insurance on a car that I have not yet owned for the specific purpose of test driving it. I would never drive a car that i couldn't afford to fix out of my pocket without fully comp insurance, same as I would never let any one drive one of my cars without same cover.

A very very sad end to a test drive of a gorgeous car.
