At work last week I saw what I thought was a 911 anyway on closer inspection the front end wasn't!!! It looked like a wedge. I thought oh my god what has been done to it.

Today I saw the driver of said vehicle and asked him about it, he said it was a USA import (LHD) and was named a 911 flatnose!

I never normally post on here but, it looked really bad and was hoping that Porsche would never build anything like this.

Can anyone help??

It must be a divider this one because I really like the flatnose. There's something very Miami Vice, gold medallion and 80's linen suits about it which I think is pretty blinkin' cool.

If you do a search for the Cosworth S thread that was on here and look at the video I posted of the Macau race back in '87 (where the Cossie S and 420 SEAC kicked ass I might add) there was an Aussie chap in there by the name of Jay Jeremy Lloyd who raced a flatnose in that event. It broke down IIRC.

Its an original, I'm afriad (I can see you don't like it). Porsche did do this as an option on, I beleive the 930 Turbo only.

There were many conversions around at the beginning of the 90's, but I think now many may have been converted back to the original spec.

In the late '80s classic / performance car boom,Porsche were charging up to £130k for these Turbo Se Flatnose versions.
I know a Porsche techie who worked at a London porker dealership at this time, apparently the quality of workmanship from the factory on these was terrible. The original wings were cut beaten and sectioned to give this front end look, from the underneath view was not characteristic of Porsche workmanship.many of the copies made at this time were often better quality.
Today there is a small price premium for a real flatnose, but nowhere near that when prodeuced.
Somewhere I have a picture of Ron Dennis and his red example, hopefully his taste has come on since then.

They raced them like that as well. I think it looks good, a lot more sleek than a usual 911 front end

I used to run a 930 flatnose, wonderful car IMO.It was a replica done extremly well by the highly regarded G-force.
