Colur question

Right the race car is finished!! at last!
Been testing in it and everything works etc etc.
So its now time to add the finishing touches.
Obviously the bodywork will be yellow, however im not sure what to do with the wheels. At the moment they are the standard white finish.
The question is should i paint them yellow like on my road car??
Not sure white and yellow really goes!
Thanks
Mike

I'll stick my head above the parapet.
I think yellow wheels and yellow car is:
How about satin black, no brake dust that way, could put nice yellow graphic on the wheels if you want to tie it all in together.
Do you still want to get together to work out the design? This is part of it.

PS: Mine will have ORANGE wheels soon

Unfortunatly i cant stand black wheels! Just dont think they look good. I have 3 sets of wheels so maybe i could paint them all different and see what looks best??
Yes tim would still like to go sort out some designs.

As a fellow racer who has had silver, white and red race wheels I would say leave them in what ever colour they arrived in!
You wheels will get rubbed up against other cars, red hot bits of rubber will stick to the rims and the brake dust from your super-duper race pads will eat through your wheel paint-work.
What this means for your average poor-man racer, is that the wheels look great at the beginning of the season and absolutely mullered by the end. Less of a problem if you can afford to have them repainted or renewed on a regular basis.
As a bodyshop owner I will also admit that the refurbed and fancy paintwork that we can do to wheels is nowhere near as durable as the factory powdercoating. So unless you fancy repainting your wheels on a regular basis, leave em

That's interesting! Is that generally true of all re-furbs, or just because of the techniques that your shop use?A powder-coated rim will have to: blow the tyre off the rim, chemical dip to remove existing coating, prime and then spray powder coating. The choice of colours is more limited but the powder coating is far thicker and more resistant to abuse. (it contains a thermoplastic)
Powder coating (and dipping) is a specialist activity and most bodyshops (including mine) will farm it out if necessary.
For a road car, the difference in the end result is negligable. (and neither process is resistent to a wheel-kerb interface moment) But a race car wheel can have a far harder life, which is why I recommend the original factory finish for ease-of-life.
