Guys!!!! Can we all calm down on the TVR knocking that seems fashionable at the moment.Some of the threads to be seen on here are downright damaging to the already fragile reputation of TVR, especially the Cerbera, doubly so the Cerbera S6, of which I am a recent owner.There have to be twice as many happy guys out there as there are whingers, some of whom don't even own a TVR in the first place. TVR appear to be on a bit of a downward spiral, dealers going bust/pulling away from the factory, bad residuals, reliability problems, and bad publicity in these threads is not going to help. To put things in perspective, if I had found this site prior to purchasing my car, I would probably have looked at another marque. Others are probably looking at the moment into buying a Cerbera and thinking the same thing.We need to encourage people into the fold not away from it! I am just grateful I had already brought my car because I would have missed out on one of the most thrilling cars to drive of all time.And before anyone says I have'nt had it long enough to form an opinion, I am extremely fussy- I already have a long list of niggly items for the dealer to rectify when the car goes back for its 1000mile service (after top end re-build prior to me purchasing the car).I consider this to be a small part of the ownership experience. So all you moaners who want 180mph+ performance with reasonable reliability go find £50k and buy a Porker. I'll take the TVR every time thank you
Well said Hazy. I'm lucky in that I have had experience (although small) of a TVR so am already hooked by the appearance/noise/smell/general ambience etc. Must not make the mistake of alienating those who have none and are still somewhat attracted.

Hazy well said, having been an owner of three TVRs with various niggles I still come back, where else would you get a car with such character and sheer excitment. I have sympathy with the people who have experienced problems but we must support the small volume car industry in the UK, if not they will fold and our choices will be restricted to the larger volume manufactures. OK they may build good reliable cars but to build those cars they need to penetrate various global markets and you end up with a compromise to meet various countries regulations, some good compromises but not a car focused towards the UK. The more we support the UK car industry the more they will be able to invest and iron out these problems, as sad as it seems it has to be no pain no gain I guess.

Have to agree. I've spent the last few months researching buying my first TVR - I always wanted a Cerbera and nothing else. Now, as the time gets closer and the money is ready I'm moving, not away from TVR as I must support the British car industry, but more towards a Chimaera - a combination of posts on this site and others, chats with dealers, and comments from TVR mechanics have warned me away from a Cerbera (at least a pre-98 model). I'm looking at getting an S/T reg. Chimaera (my max. budget), although my heart would still dearly love a Cerbera - its just the thousands of voices tht seem to be shouting 'NO'

Just do it!!! I so very nearly did'nt but the Cerbera makes me so glad I did. The car is just awesome, it really is. The Chimp is a fine car but ( this may cause some trouble) it is not really a supercar.The Cerbie IS. Get that Clarkson video and watch it trounce everything on that airstrip and then tell me you want a chimp!!!! I don't think so......

Well said, Hazy. Tommomic, you want a Cerbera, so why are you contemplating buying anything else? If you don't buy a Cerbera, a small voice inside your head will make you regret it! And the icing on the cake is...I bought my 4.2 Cerbera four and a half years ago, I treat it with respect, look after it like hell, have never been on a hard shoulder, have never had an engine rebuild, have never wished for one minute that I hadn't bought the car. Fit a sports exhaust, wind down both windows even when the weather outside is freezing, and wind up the revs - there ain't nothing to touch it!

The cerbera is a real head turner and in a good bright colour (Rosso Red Pearl is lovely!!) people will stop you and ask you about the car - they are so rare and look stunning.
On my way home from picking mine up I stopped for petrol and three people spoke to me and commented on the car (all good by the way)- even my wife thinks its beautiful!!
Good colour,sports exhaust, 4.5 engine and you have a car thats the mutts nuts.
Go for it otherwise when you stop for petrol and there`s a cerbera sitting there you will wish......

the last two posts are right on the money.Throw caution to the wind and buy the car you really want. Ask any of the guys on here who have moaned about costs and breakdowns if they actually completely regret buying a Cerbera and I reckon very few would!

OK, I will put in a good word even though the car is in pieces.
I do LOVE my Cerbera !
Am driving round in a rented Ford Focus 2.0 at the mo with about a quarter of the power... It makes me Sleeepyy !! Out of boredom, tried to get the back end to slip out and the bloody traction control took over and stopped my fun.. Yawn!
Am suffering withdrawl symptoms, so that must say a lot about the Cerbera's! Everyone should have one.

Had a chimp - now got a cerbie - I still find myself staring at it. It just looks bloody marvellous.
A few niggles - but what the hell. Every trip to the dealer lets me drool over the Diablos they always have in (I'm half Italian - I have an excuse!!!)
Life is too short - no-ones epitaph should be "I wish I had bought a Eurobuggy".
