Am I right in my understanding that if we have been told the "whole truth" this time that alot of the posts done by the so called 999 sydicate or Tivstar have been done during working hours and on a police force PC? I for one am a little disturbed by this (if its true) Yes I put my hands up and say yes I post during working hours (but then I own the company) as I'm sure the majority of others do, but generally those that do work in jobs in the commercial sector. To be be told that serving police officers spend hours a day w*nkering about on the internet while on duty and with the full knowledge and blessing of their boss (who appears to be the worst offender) is to be honest a little disturbing, we continueously get told how stretched you are, we even get posts that comment on how few resources you have avaliable but then you do this and even have the cheek to blame confusion on the crap equipment provided for by our local authorities.

Madcop has been a credit to this board for several years his contributions have earnt him a lot of respect a I personally like the guy, to the best of my knowledge he gives up his own time and does what he does out of a genuine passion for his job, you guys have done him and others like him a lot of harm.

Next time one of us gets pulled over on a petty and bearly justifiable traffic matter maybe instead of saying "shouldn't you be out catching real criminals" we should say "shouldn't you be back at the office polishing your arses and pretending to be other people while wasting your day on the internet"

I'm sure your bosses would be very proud if they ever compared your time sheets against all the posts on here over the last few months.

Sorry Tivster but Mel does have a very valid point. The thought of Police officers who are supposed to be on duty arseing around on the internet all day is hardly one that fills me with joy.

I have the odd look between work, but these days don't get much time for PH until I get home in the evenings. However, my job doesn't involve serving the public or indeed protecting peoples lives, I think you should take a long look at yourselves, especially as your so called scam wasn't that difficult to spot and several have accused you of being a fake on many occasions, including me yesterday, which almost got me banned!!

Don't be so pompous you lot. Policemen are allowed breaks like the rest of us - and probably need them more than most office workers.

The 999/Tivster/Flasher thing was amusing sometimes and tedious at other times. As far as I'm concerned the matter is now closed and everyone can draw their own conclusions.

Flasher, you and Mel both have a point, and I respect that. But to be honest, these connections are always live and no-one has posted on here when they should have been doing something else - you have my word on that. Also this force has an open policy on Internet use that basically is self-policing - and it is enfoeced. Be assured that excessive use gets queried and appropriate action is taken - discipline...
Gets a little easier to understand when you consider that some of the others involved have staggered shifts, staggered breaks and the like. Also it's not a 9-5 , Mon to Fri job. Me personnally, well I save most of it for out of work hours, but do hack around when I'm having a break for the odd half hour. Cos of parking some days, I'm here an hour early (at least)on most days - for which I don't get paid.
Additionally a lot of the **999** posts were made at the end of shifts and in people own time - i.e. wind down time....

Can't justify use when should be doing something else -I agree, but we do have some downtime - occasionally - as there is no real pattern - bar Friday nights, weekends and Bank Hols - to the occurrence of incidents that necessitate our response. One day you can be rushed off you feet for 10 hrs... the next there can be nothing at all....

That's police work all over....
