fan thermal switch
Discussion
Search on here for otter switch there are several temperatures to choose from, I run a 92/87 but each car can prefer a different set up.
Are you sure it is the switch? A simple test is to bridge across the otter switch contacts and see if the fans come on.

The 'otter' switch,or 'thermoswitch' which switches your fans is a common part from many makes of vehicle, including Ford,Volkswagen,GM,Audi etc.You need to make sure it has a M22x1.5 thread and two terminals. The std operating temp is cut in at 95oC,but a very common preference nowadays is one that cuts in a bit lower at 92oC.Both are easily obtainable.
I stuck a list of Intermotor candidates at

IIRC 50250 is the most popular.

I think you're right Dave,i used to use the Intermotor and that number rings a bell. For a cross reference the Wahler part number is 6010.92 or 6010.95,depending on wheather you want the 92 or 95oC cut in.http://tvr3.dspen.com/Otter_Switches.html
